You can make a gift of securities to the fund. In order to qualify for the capital gains tax exemption the donation must be an “in kind” transfer of the security itself, not the cash proceeds from the sale of the security. It is Vancouver Foundation’s policy to immediately sell securities that are gifted to us. We will issue you a tax receipt for the market value of the securities on the close of the business day we receive the transfer in our brokerage account. The proceeds of the sale will be the amount donated into the Endangered Ecosystems Fund.
